Key Stage 5 Curriculum
We offer an excellent range of A Levels and Level 3 BTEC or WJEC qualifications in the Sixth Form. All our students are required to choose at least three full courses from those on offer (see booklet, although this is subject to change based on staffing and demand); with the option to study four courses, if they desire. Students also follow a core curriculum consisting of PSHE and an enrichment programme. In addition to the three full courses, our students are also expected to complete an AS in either core maths or the Extended Project (EPQ) during Year 12. Students who do not achieve a grade 4 or above in English and / or maths at GCSE will be expected to repeat this course, until this national benchmark is met, inline with DfE guidance.
At Poole High Sixth Form, we also offer career, apprenticeship and university guidance, ensuring that our students can use their skills and knowledge for the next steps of their learning journey. Our Year 12 students also complete a week of work experience and are involved in both an aspirations day and a challenge day in the summer term.
Over the course of the two years there are also plenty of opportunities to be involved in the Sixth Form Leadership Team, as a House Captain or senior prefect, or sports teams, numerous charity and social events.
