Poole High School is an 11-19 comprehensive school serving families throughout the historic town of Poole. As the largest school in this selective catchment, we pride ourselves on the fact that all students thrive in this caring and collaborative environment. Our students are well motivated and co-operative, and the team spirit in this large school is second to none. In 2019, Poole high School anticipate a Progress 8 score of +0.40 putting us ‘above average’ for progress nationally.

We have high expectations of our staff, and we value them highly. Our school systems ensure you can focus on teaching high quality lessons in a sustainable manner – dealing with poor behaviour centrally, and limiting the amount ‘data’ we expect teaching staff to deal with.

Music Teacher

Position: Music Teacher

We are delighted to be recruiting for a teacher of Music to join our high-performing, forward thinking and cohesive department.

We are a forward-thinking school that believes in a full and broad curriculum and the value that Music and the Performing Arts can bring to this.

Our high expectations of students drive the rigorous academic curriculum with a clear focus on supporting all students achieve positive outcomes. We teach Year 11 and A level Music with AQA exam board and Year 10 with OCR. You will work with the Head of Music, and the wider Performing Arts team to continually drive attainment and standards across the department.

This is an opportunity to work with students from Key Stage 3 through to A level and also to engage students in opportunities to perform, share and work with wider Arts organisations both in and beyond the curriculum. There is also potential for the successful applicant to develop further extra-curricular opportunities and the school’s music technology offer.

The Performing Arts faculty is at an exciting developmental stage with more opportunities than ever for the right applicant to make an impact on engagement at all levels across the school.

You will work in a purpose-built block that has 2 classrooms and a rehearsal hall, a music technology suite operating Cubase 10, a recording studio and peripatetic music rooms.

We seek a teacher who has the following qualities:

• A supportive member of the team
• Excellent subject knowledge
• Instrumental proficiency
• Well organised and motivated to support students of all abilities and needs
