In choosing this course, students will develop knowledge which will equip them for undergraduate study in the areas of Physiology, Bio-mechanics, Psychology and Nutrition or employment in the sporting sector.

Sport and society and technology in sport.
Assessment
Assessment is by means of two exams and a Coursework Module.

About the Course:
The Diploma in Sport is a two-year programme validated by BTEC. It offers a broad basis of study for the sport sector, and combines practical sports activity alongside academic study. It has the same equivalency as 1 1/2 A –levels and is studied for 9 lessons over 2 weeks.
You will study 7 units over the 2 years: 4 are mandatory units and 3 are an optional unit. Of the 4 mandatory units, 2 are externally set, marked and assessed by BTEC.

Entry Requirements:
GCSE Physical Education, or a BTEC First Award in Sport qualification.
Must have achieved English or Maths (preferably both) at a grade 4 or above. A genuine interest in sport and coaching, alongside a sound knowledge of sport.

Assessment
You will study 9 units over 2 years; 3 units are externally assessed, 6 units are internally assessed (coursework).
The units will help you to:
Develop fitness and sports performance:
Sports leadership opportunities, where you will go out into the local community, as well as in KS3 PE lessons and teach children new sporting skills and techniques.
You will be given the opportunity to develop and interpret own and others’ fitness levels and improve practical sports performance using video analysis.

You will study 14 units over 2 years; 4 units are externally assessed and 10 units are internally assessed (coursework).
