Sixth Form: Pastoral Support
The pastoral support on offer at Poole High School 6th Form is second to none. With experienced heads of year supporting both year groups individually, students will feel a great level of provision to guide them efficiently throughout the duration of their time in year 12 and 13.
Each year group is supported by a team of tutors as well as their head of year. Our 6th Form tutor team are understanding and experienced in dealing with the various challenges that come with 6th Form life, and with a structured tutor programme in place students feel well supported, and ready to take on their exciting next step by the time they leave us at the end of year 13. On a weekly basis in tutor time students will have the opportunity to receive individual academic support, get involved with class debates and discussions on current affairs, meet as a whole year group to share a weekly focus, and plan ahead for upcoming events, all whilst feeling a sense of belonging and companionship with their tutor group.
Additionally, when students proceed to year 13 they will be placed in a tutor group with students of similar career routes and destinations, as well as having a specialist tutor to support them through their UCAS/apprenticeship/employment applications.
Our heads of year have a pivotal role in supporting you throughout your time in 6th Form; meeting with students on a regular basis to ensure pastoral provision is in place, liaising with staff, students and parents alike to ensure students are fully achieving their potential, and implementing interventions and support plans at various times throughout the year all with a common goal of ensuring students are best prepared for the big wide world post-18.
Alongside our tutor team there are various members of staff who will give further guidance on pathways, careers, pastoral support, and ensure the enrichment programme on offer to students is of great variety.
