Guidance for schools, colleges and local authorities on maintaining educational provision
The guidance published by the government makes it very clear that if children can stay at home – they should be doing so.
This is the reason why schools are partially closing.
The fewer the children making the journey to school, and the fewer children in educational settings, the lower the risk that the virus can spread.
The only children who should be in school are those whose parents work is critical to the COVID-19 response. Many parents working in this sector may be able to keep their child / children at home because another suitable parent/carer is present or working from home.
Every child that can be cared for safely at home should be.
